My three-year old lovrd this. Nice pictures of an old-fashioned Thanksgiving, but he particularly liked the idea of a ook you could sing along to.

Oxford Textbook of Surgery
The definitive surgical text. Having tried many others, the Oxford Text Book of Surgery remains, in my view, the gold standard resource for any surgical trainee.

The Painted Zoo
Published in Misc. Supplies by Klutz, Inc (December, 1999)
Author: Klutz Press
Average review score:

The Painted Zoo
The Painted Zoo is not really a book. It is so much more than that. It is, in fact, a jar brimming with 24 wooden animals with paints, brush & pen, wiggle eyes and a booklet full of ideas. My daughter and her friends love painting and decorating these zoo animals! They have spent hours painting them. We are now on our second jar and I am sure there will be others. What a find! Every child we know is getting a jar for Christmas or their birthday (whichever comes first).

A straightforward, scholarly analysis
The Panthers And The Militias: Brothers Under The Skin? by John A. Wood is a brief (52 pages) yet straightforward, scholarly analysis of the Black Panther movement and militias in America. History, similarities, differences, economic and cultural issues are all discussed in this learned treatise, which is exhaustively researched and meticulously written. The Panthers And The Militias is a welcome and original contribution to Black Studies and American History supplemental reading lists and academic reference collections.

Pediatric Orthopaedics in Primary Care
Published in Hardcover by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins (August, 1993)
Authors: Vernon T., M.D. Tolo and Beverly, M.D. Wood
Average review score:

Pediatric Orthopaedics in Primary Care
As a general pediatrician I have found this to be one of the most practical texts in my library. Every orthopedic disorder found in pediatrics is covered, yet not so exhaustively as to be tiresome. Just the right amount of information, geared towards the non-orthopedist.

Perfect Wood Finishing Made Easy
Published in Paperback by Betterway Pubns (April, 1998)
Authors: Susanne M. Noble and Sue Noble
Average review score:

A project-oriented approach to wood finishing
This is a refreshing book on wood finishing. Rather than go through a reference of chemicals, materials and abstract applications, Sue runs step-by-step thru about a dozen different projects. Each project is a little different in material, construction, application and approach. Each step is illustrated, explained, and given a time estimate.

Sue introduces dyes and glazes and takes you beyond the types of finishes that you will find on the shelf... Through the trip, she covers nearly the whole arsenal of a professional finisher.

It really helped me break out of my routine two finishes and open up to experimentation.

Definitely the right book for someone who wants to both learn and then move beyond the basics. This is different than references by Flexner and Jewitt, but a welcomed complement.

Perfectly Pooh: The Perfect Picnic Spot, a Walk in the Woods, Who Hid the Honey, Good Friends (Lift the Flaps)
Published in Hardcover by Mouse Works (July, 1998)
Authors: Lisa Ann Marsoli, Jim Volare, Dicicco Digital Arts, and Mouse Works
Average review score:

Terrific book set, for gift or travel
These four little books come in handy for trips, restaurants, etc. Kids can carry the case; the books are interesting enough and the flaps are durable. These are board books, so they are completely washable. Children love these characters, and this set makes a nice gift, for ages 1.5 to about 4. The stories include the typical themes of friends and sharing.

Period Finishes and Effects
Published in Hardcover by Rizzoli (September, 1992)
Authors: Judith Miller, Martin Miller, and James Merrell
Average review score:

Comprehensive Overview of Period Finishes
This is an excellent book for the professional designer or decorator looking for a comprehensive catalog of "out of the ordinary" finishes. The finishes reviewed are generally european in heritage, although many were imported to the US during the last 2 centuries. This is not a handbook for the weekend "do-it-yourself" decorator/painter as the finishes illustrated require multiple steps and practice to attain the desired look. The book is an excellent resource when discussing finishes and 'looks'with a professional painter/finisher. Additionally, the photographs are of a fine enough quality to help the reader understand the relationship of the color, technique and texture to the surrounding room. This should help the reader to visually conceive the design before the project execution and thereby minimize 'mistakes'. Enjoy!
